VOLUNTEERING

Visitors to Nuffield Place often remark on how friendly and helpful our volunteer stewards are and how well-run the house is without becoming too formal. We could not open without the kind help of our volunteers, some of whom help out on one day per year and others who enjoy it so much that they attend on several.

Nuffield Place is a pleasant place to spend an afternoon as a Room Steward. The house is open on 11 Sundays each year between 2pm and 5pm and on each of these dates around 10 people are needed to sit in the rooms and keep an eye on the contents as well as answering any questions – information notes are provided.

The job is made more interesting by spending only one hour in one room and then moving on to another. Each Steward is given a free afternoon tea with home-made cake.
